Make your own Make-up & Jewelry Organizer

In this manual Stefanie shows you how to make a beautiful organizer from epoxy resin. You can make it in all kinds of colors and edit it with different decorations. Stefanie makes this organizer with the organizer making set .

My name is Stefanie, I am 38 years old and work as a flight attendant. What started with making a few coasters with epoxy resin has grown into making many creations that I think up, design, make and also sell myself. On Instagram I am CreaStessie . Feel free to take a look at my Instagram for inspiration!

I will take you through the creative process of making a beautiful makeup and jewelry organizer with epoxy resin . I have added clear photos so that the process is easy to follow. A step-by-step plan with videos can also be found on my Instagram. Have fun reading this manual and making it!

How to make a make-up organizer step-by-step plan

    Step 1: Preparation

Make sure all the supplies are ready in a protected and clean work area free from dust and hair. Dust and hair can easily get into your resin work fly and then dry together. This is not pretty and a shame for your creation. It is important that the surface on which you work is level so that your resin does not run to one side. It is also wise to make your work in a place that you will not need for the next 24 hours, because you can no longer move your work when you have finished pouring. Think carefully in advance about what you want to make and which colors you are going to use. You have about 30 minutes of processing time and good preparation is therefore very important. In the photo you can see how I like to prepare and place my things. I do the mixing and coloring on a protected surface and the pouring on a level desktop. Then I put the silicone molds ready on it.

    Step 2: The mix resin

To make the organizer I will pour epoxy casting resin in the silicone mold "making organizers". I mix the epoxy in a silicone mixing cup. This epoxy casting resin is suitable for larger projects and is a bit thicker than other epoxy casting resin . Because the resin is a bit thicker the colors do not immediately flow into each other. That is, for what I want to make, very handy.

Because I am going to fill all the molds at once and therefore need quite a lot of epoxy casting resin , I am going to empty both bottles into my mixing cup. This resin mixes 1:1 very easily. You can use mixing cups for this: I used an empty yogurt bucket so that I can simply throw it away later. I empty both bottles of epoxy resin (A: resin + B: hardener) into the bucket. I make sure that the bottles are completely empty so that I have the same amount of both liquids. I always weigh this carefully to prevent mistakes. Accurate weighing is really essential. If you are working with a different epoxy casting resin , I always advise you to weigh both components before mixing them, otherwise you run the risk that it will not harden. Then I set the timer to 4 minutes and mix the resin and hardener well with my stirring stick. Do this very carefully. Scrape well along the edges and the bottom, because everything has to be mixed very well with each other.

After stirring well for 4 minutes, I divide the epoxy casting resin that wants to color over the number of cups that I will use to mix with the color pigments. I put 1/3 in one cup for the champagne pigment , 1/3 in the other cup for the pearl white pigment and 1/3 in a cup for the gold flakes .
I add a generous scoop of color pigment to the epoxy casting resin in the cups with a stirring stick. I stir this very well again, so that it becomes a nice even color epoxy and the gold flakes mix well with the epoxy casting resin .

After this I add the gold flakes to the epoxy in the cup and I stir this well again. The larger flakes then also become a bit smaller.

    Step 3: Pouring the epoxy

I pour the silicone molds with the patterns I have devised for this project. With the antlers you have to do this slowly and carefully because it is a thin and narrow mold. I remove excess epoxy with a damp cleaning (baby) cloth. After this I go over the epoxy with my heat blow dryer to remove air bubbles. This can also be done with a burner, but then do not go too close to the edges of the mold. You can then damage the molds / let them merge with your creation and that is a shame.

I start by pouring the epoxy mixture with the champagne color. Around that the gold flakes, then the pearl white and that alternately. I pour it a bit on the hunch and usually the flakes first because they sink to the bottom. The paper cup with the champagne color and pearl white resin I fold the edges of the cup into a spout towards each other. Filling the antlers must be done very slowly and carefully, because this mold is thin and you do not want to overfill the mold. After pouring I always spray the epoxy carefully with the Bubble Blaster to remove the last air bubbles.

I always cover my work so that no dust can float in it while it is drying. I use a fly net for this, which is very sturdy and does not touch my work. Now I let all the molds with epoxy dry. If you are satisfied with your work and it stays that way, it has to dry for at least 24 hours. How long it has to dry exactly depends on the temperature in the room where you are crafting. The warmer, the faster it dries, but at least 24 hours is a safe starting point.

    Step 5: De-mold and assemble

After at least 24 hours of hardening, you can remove all the parts from the molds. And start assembling them. Some parts come out of the mold a bit easier than others. Do this carefully so as not to damage your part or your mold. After this, I sand away sharp edges with the Ferm Combitool . In some places where too much epoxy has been poured, you can easily sand it away with this tool. I also sand the end of the antlers a bit so that they fit more easily into the body of the deer.

    Step 6: Placing the parts

Now you can start placing your different parts. See what is a nice place for you on the plateau. I have chosen to also fix the parts immediately. I use the UV Resin from itsOkay for this and a UV led lamp . You can also use superglue for this. I put some UV Resin under the part that I am going to glue to the plateau, place it in the desired place and then put it under the UV lamp for 1-2 minutes.

Do this with all your parts and you have your own jewelry and makeup organizer made by yourself. Now you can put your jewelry and makeup in the organizer. Voilà! A beautiful showpiece for your room.

I hope I inspired you :) Good luck and have fun with your creation! Love Stefanie!
