Some time ago I saw an advertisement about making letter keychains. Once ordered I got started and now I make very nice name keychains. Epoxy keychains are all the rage on social media. Supplies:

As an example I make three types of keychains:

  1. name made of letter beads
  2. name made of glitter letters
  3. a name cut with a plotter machine or epoxy sticker printer

Make a name keychain with letter beads

Supplies

Step 1: Making the base

Fill the letter about a third with epoxy casting resin or UV resin. I am making the letter L. I chose to do this with the Ultra epoxy (premium. I made the epoxy blue with the opaque pigments . After the base, let it dry for about 24 hours.

Step 2: Adding the name

Choose a name of your choice. I chose the name "Levy" with letter beads. To make sure the letters don't float, I attached them with UV resin . Then I pour the letter just above the edge (so that a bulge is created) with the 2-component epoxy. After this, let it harden for 24 to 48 hours to then make a keychain from it.

Step 3: Finishing the Keychain

The Epoxy keychain making starter kit also includes a hand drill with 10 small drill bits, screws and keychains. With the drill you can drill a hole in the keychain. Here you put a screw in and here you put a keychain on. When drilling, make sure that your hole is deep enough for half of the screw. Screw the screw all the way into the resin so that it is firmly attached. For extra grip I use pliers.

Now that you have assembled the key ring it is ready. You can cut away rough edges with pliers or scissors or file them with a nail file.

Supplies

Step 1: Pouring the base

In this example I make the letter F of Fleur. I have chosen to do this with the 2-component epoxy casting resin . Fill the letter to just below the edge with epoxy casting resin or UV Resin. I add small dried flowers and glitter to the letter keychain. Let it dry for about 12 hours and continue to step 2.

Step 2: Adding the name

Choose a name of your choice, I chose the name Fleur in glitter name letters . To make sure the letters stay in place, I attach them with UV Resin. I stick the letters one by one in place using a cocktail stick. Make sure they are nicely straight next to each other. I let the UV Resin harden under the UV Resin LED lamp.

Then I pour epoxy resin to just above the edge, so that a bulge is created. Epoxy always shrinks a little during curing and this will give you a nice end result. Let the epoxy harden for 24-48. After this we will make a key ring out of it.

Step 3: Finishing the Keychain

Use a hand drill to make a hole in the key ring. Screw in a screw eye and attach the key ring to it. Use pliers to tighten the screw eye properly.

Now your homemade epoxy keychain is all done! You can remove any sharp or rough edges with a deburrer, file or scissors.

Create a name keychain with sticker

Supplies

If you have a plotter machine from Silhoutte, Cricut or Siser you can cut a sticker from vinyl and process it in the keychain. Or maybe you know someone with a plotter machine who wants to print this for you.
The purchase of a plotter is a one-time purchase. They are quite expensive and new for sale from 175.00. You can also go for the epoxy sticker printer from itsOkay, this is only 62.95 on offer.

Step 1: Print the name sticker

Create a name design in the app of the epoxy sticker printer or the plotter in a font of your choice. The epoxy stickers I made have a maximum height of 8 mm and a length of 35 mm. This way I know for sure that it fits nicely in my letter key ring.

Step 2: Pouring the base

I chose to cast this with the Ultra epoxy 100:60 . Fill the letter to just below the edge with epoxy casting resin or UV Resin. In this example I cast the letter M for Mario. I chose to do this with the 2 component epoxy. I made the epoxy black with the pigment paste "supreme black" . After the base you let it dry for about 24 hours.

Step 3: Adding the name

In step 1 I cut out the name Mario in a white vinyl sticker. Using transfer tape or regular adhesive tape you stick this on the letter. Then I pour the letter to just above the edge (so that a bulge is created) with the 2 component epoxy. After this you let it harden for 24 to 48 to then make a key ring from it.

Gr Karin
