Step-by-step plan for making jewelry from epoxy
We would like to share a complete step-by-step package if you get started yourself, for example, making a pendant or earrings. Making jewelry with epoxy is relatively simple. With the right preparation and working method you can quickly and easily make the most beautiful jewelry.
-
If you start making jewelry, good preparation is half the battle. Prepare all the materials you need in advance so that you have everything at hand. Protect your workplace with a tarp or a silicone mat.
-
Do you use UV Resin? Then you don't have to mix this in advance. UV Resin is ready-made and can be poured directly into a silicone mold.
Pour a thin layer of UV Resin into the silicone mold. Experts recommend pouring UV Resin in thin layers. This gives you more control over your project and reduces the chance of air bubbles developing. If you are going to pour objects or decorations, you can do so in the first layer. If you fill the mold in one go and immediately add decorations to it, there is a chance that they will sink to the bottom.
Do you still need to mix the epoxy? Then make sure that you follow the instructions for use to mix the two parts correctly. -
Add any dyes, pigment or glitter to the epoxy resin and mix well.
-
During this step you can add small decorations such as beads, flowers, teeth, photos or other decorations.
-
Now it's time to let your jewelry harden . This generally takes a few minutes if you use a UV epoxy resin LED lamp. The exact curing time depends on the layer thickness and the power of the lamp. You can also opt for direct sunlight, then your jewelry will usually harden within 15 minutes.
-
Now that the resin has hardened, you can carefully remove your jewelry from the mold . After removing the mold, you can carefully remove the sharp edges with sandpaper or scissors.
-
During the last step you can add jewelry parts such as resin pendants, rings , and a necklace or attach earring hooks to your jewelry. You may need a hand drill to make small holes in your jewelry and attach a screw eye .
